There are different automobile tools used for repairing and
maintenance of automobiles and their parts. The important
tools associated in repairing and maintaining an
automobile and its parts will be discussed with their
features and uses.
The hammer is actually a weapon used in wars in the earlier
periods but it is used as a tool for for hitting and
thereby applying heavy force to the part of an automobile
in repairing it. A mechanic knife is used to open
cardboard cartons which contain other tools and
instruments for repairing the automobile.
A Power Drill is used to create a hole in many parts of
the Vehicle for inserting a steel pop rivets, or to make
holes more specifically in the floor of sports cars. The
holes are made next to, and usually through the brake line
that goes to the rear wheels of the car.
The Hacksaw is a common tool that works on the simple
principles associated with a Ouija board. It is used to
convert human effort into a skewed and unpredictable
motion in the attempt to cut the object. Aviation Metal
Shears are the tool that works on the exact same principle
of the Hacksaw and is used to cut flat metals.
Vise-grips are used to make the bolt head of a part into a
rounded off head. They can transfer intense heat to the
user~s palm. Oxyacetelene torches are the tools used for
lighting the covert cigarette in closed garage, they are
similar to a Zippo lighter. Whitworth sockets are those
tools which were used in older British cars and
motorcycles. Now they are using for hiding old Salems.
The Drill Press is a tall motorized machine useful for
grasping any flat metal bar away from your grip and
smacking the free end into your chest. Tweezers are the
precision device that is used to remove wood splinters.
The Wire Wheel is used to remove fingerprint whorls and
calluses while fixing a car (see Microdermabrasion for
the hands).
A Hydraulic Floor Jack is a device which is used to lower a
Mustang to the ground just after you have installed a set
of Ford performance headers. An eight-foot long Douglas
fir 2X4 is the tool used to push a car in an upward
direction and is often used in conjunction with the
hydraulic jack. Tweezers, again, are the tools specially
used for removing Douglas fir splinters. A Cell Phone may
be used as a special tool for calling your neighbor to
bring his hydraulic floor jack, to release the Douglas fir
2x4.
A snap-on gasket scraper is used as a sandwich tool for
spreading mayonnaise. A timing light is a useful tool for
illuminating grease buildup on your crankshaft pulleys.
A handy two-ton hydraulic engine hoist is for checking the
tensile power of ground straps and is used to cut the lines
that you may have forgotten to disconnect.
The Battery Electrolyte tester is used primarily to
deliver sulfuric acid from the vehicle battery to the
inside of your toolbox. A Trouble Light is used to
produce light, that is a good source of vitamin D, in the
car, at night. A Phillips Screwdriver is useful for
opening lids of old style, paper-and-tin, oil cans, as a
secondary use it easily create safety screws by rounding
any removal ridges, (see: Vice-Grips).
Even with all the humor, using tools is what seperates us
from most of the animal kingdom. The proper use of the
proper tool will make all things possible. Whether it's
repairing a car, or fixing a washing machine, or building
a space shuttle, Tools, used correctly will keep our
lives rolling.
